A recent conversation

This morning while getting ready for work, the following exchange happened between mother and daughter.

Claire: (walking into the bathroom with her sunglasses on) Hi Mom.
Me: Hi Claire.
Claire: I look like, I look like... raisin toast.
Me: Raisin toast?
Claire: Yeah, raisin toast.

Where does she come up with this stuff???

Hunh?

The Minnesota version of 'eh' has shown up at our home as of late. As is becoming the norm, we are more aware of the fillers we use in our conversations and common phrases thrown around the house because Claire repeats them. The latest is the use of 'hunh'?

As in... "We should go feed the cat, hunh?"

It's quite humorous, really. She is very vocal and starts talking the moment she wakes. If she finds something funny or if we respond to something she brings it up over and over again. Lately she has been talking to us about two of her favorite people. Nearly 50 times a day we hear one of the two following phrases.

1. Grandma Jackie couldn't find that Elefun, could she? No, she couldn't. (Jackie - apparently her fear of the Elefun has been overwhelmed by her curiosity of where you hid him!!!)

2. I buried Grandma Joanne in the blocks all the way up to her neck! That was funny, wasn't it?

And the mirror has also shown us another tidbit of information regarding our habits. Claire picked up her telephone the other day and started pushing buttons. I asked her who she was calling and she said she was 'sending Grandma a message'. You read it right folks. Claire has already begun texting. Lordy, what will our phone bills look like in a few years?!?
