Claire returned to Eagle's Nest the week. The site of her first ever public up-chucking. She and Pete had headed there a couple months ago and were settling into playing when all of sudden the bug that took the whole house out hit Claire. She was the first to go down.
When I asked her how her day went she the following conversation transpired:
Mom: How was your day?
Claire: Good.
Mom: What did you do today?
Claire: I went to an indoor playground. (Pause) And I didn't even get sick.
Mom: Pardon?
Claire: Yeah, I didn't even put my hands in my mouth* and get sick.
Pete said that he purposely avoided talking about their past attempt to play at this location because he didn't want her to associate Eagle's Nest with getting sick. But... he said she mentioned it to him when they PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT. Apparently her first bout with the stomach bug left such an impression that she knew the building from the outside.
This visit went much better and she told me all about going down slides and wanting to climb into the ball area. She even told me that Lexi (her playdate buddy) didn't want to go into the balls. "She was afraid".
*So the hand in the mouth comment. We've been trying to teach her that when she sticks her hands in her mouth she exposes herself to more germs, resulting in colds and the potential stomach bug. Hence her association with not getting sick and not sticking her hands in her mouth.
You can bet she did stick her hands in her mouth - because she does it ALL the time. But it was funny to hear her stream of thought.
