Does your kid growl?

Claire growls. Not sure if she is channeling her inner puppy dog, lioness or what, but she growls. Very often when she is not happy with a decision.

Normal? Should we be worried?

Maybe we should just ask her the question we used to get in corporate development.

"If you could be any kind of animal, what would you be?"

Spring is in the air

The last few days were beautiful and we took advantage of them. Well, the latter part of the week. The first part of the week the house was down and out with a stomach bug. This was the first time Claire ever experienced vomiting and she was not a fan. Luckily, the bug seemed to come and go quickly for her. For me, not so much.

Wearing the Dr. Suess slippers at Grandma & Grandpa P's house. (These were given to Jordan when she was 9 0r 10).

Taking after her grandpa Jim. She already wants to work with the power tools.

Claire's vocabulary continues to grow and grow. Sometimes she sounds like a much older kid. It's great fun to hear her create stories as she imagines her toys having conversations. She continues to make up words and seems to remember quite a few things that you tell her.
Some Friday night fun at our house. Claire shows off her bowling skills.

Claire Loves Her Grandmas!

Our early bird

Wearing a pair of my 'working shoes'. I need to leave either this pair or my black loafers at home so she can wear them around the house. She's also taken to helping pick out outfits for me in the morning. This morning she participated in the routine by helping me pick out my makeup.

Staring out the window with her two favorite pals, Elmo & Grover.

This is what happens when you fall down the stairs. She went down about a week ago (only 3-4 stairs) and the rug gave her some kisses. They have already healed.

No more 2T

Cleared out all of Claire's 2T clothing this week to pass onto our niece. I'm not surprised that our niece is moving into 2T clothing when she is 19 months old, but I am surprised that Claire fits so well into 3T clothing. Much like us, it depends on the manufacuterer and of course, if I bought used vs. new. But still... she's growing up so fast.

A recent conversation

This morning while getting ready for work, the following exchange happened between mother and daughter.

Claire: (walking into the bathroom with her sunglasses on) Hi Mom.
Me: Hi Claire.
Claire: I look like, I look like... raisin toast.
Me: Raisin toast?
Claire: Yeah, raisin toast.

Where does she come up with this stuff???

Hunh?

The Minnesota version of 'eh' has shown up at our home as of late. As is becoming the norm, we are more aware of the fillers we use in our conversations and common phrases thrown around the house because Claire repeats them. The latest is the use of 'hunh'?

As in... "We should go feed the cat, hunh?"

It's quite humorous, really. She is very vocal and starts talking the moment she wakes. If she finds something funny or if we respond to something she brings it up over and over again. Lately she has been talking to us about two of her favorite people. Nearly 50 times a day we hear one of the two following phrases.

1. Grandma Jackie couldn't find that Elefun, could she? No, she couldn't. (Jackie - apparently her fear of the Elefun has been overwhelmed by her curiosity of where you hid him!!!)

2. I buried Grandma Joanne in the blocks all the way up to her neck! That was funny, wasn't it?

And the mirror has also shown us another tidbit of information regarding our habits. Claire picked up her telephone the other day and started pushing buttons. I asked her who she was calling and she said she was 'sending Grandma a message'. You read it right folks. Claire has already begun texting. Lordy, what will our phone bills look like in a few years?!?
